It's Winter in America Thing

Dear America,

Charles R. Kesler

just read it. (yeah, that link in the heading....read it)

it explains nearly everything happening TO America...

it especially explains the current border invasion by the rather large group of disingenuous "asylum" seekers, under the organizing and cover of radical leftist groups...which is happening, as a crow flies, forty-five minutes from my front door

and ironically, it even explains what is happening outside of America....cue Paris.
And remember this!
We the People have a president with the courage to back out of that international climate change redistribution of wealth agreement (last year) and have, for the moment, saved hard working Americans from this kind of oppressive, misguided, taxation (all, except us Californians maybe....thanks to the latest proposition -- to reverse added gas taxes -- not passing...Prop 6)

Let's let Kesler say a few words --

Political scientists sometimes distinguish between normal politics and regime politics. Normal politics takes place within a political and constitutional order and concerns means, not ends. In other words, the ends or principles are agreed upon; debate is simply over means. By contrast, regime politics is about who rules and for what ends or principles. It questions the nature of the political system itself. Who has rights? Who gets to vote? What do we honor or revere together as a people? I fear America may be leaving the world of normal politics and entering the dangerous world of regime politics—a politics in which our political loyalties diverge more and more, as they did in the 1850s, between two contrary visions of the country.
Look folks,
when you have migrants storm a border, en  masse, THAT is not rational, thoughtful, respectful action, with intentions of full assimilation in the pursuance of immigrating to the United States of America, by any stretch of the imagination.  THAT is pure chaos, and they are even wearing repulsive t-shirts, and waving their home country flags, that prove it.

But here's a FLASHBACK that is most interesting, from 2013 -- um,  same behavior, same border, different president.

I love this part from Kesler --

Conservatives, by contrast, regard the individual as the quintessential endangered minority. They trace individual rights to human nature, which lacks a race. Human nature also lacks ethnicity, gender, and class. Conservatives trace the idea of rights to the essence of an individual as a human being. We have rights because we’re human beings with souls, with reason, distinct from other animals and from God. We’re not beasts, but we’re not God—we’re the in-between being. Conservatives seek to vindicate human equality and liberty—the basis for majority rule in politics—against the liberal Constitution’s alternative, in which everything is increasingly based on group identity.

indeed
We have rights
because we’re human beings with souls,
with reason,
distinct from other animals
and from God.
We’re not beasts,
but we’re not God—
we’re the in-between being.

love that

what's happening at the border looks a lot like action without soul, without reason, and quite indistinct from the actions of other animals....just sayin'

So if we won’t change our minds, and if we can’t change the subject, we are left with only three other ways out of the cold civil war. The happiest of the three would be a vastly reinvigorated federalism. One of the original reasons for constitutional federalism was that the states had a variety of interests and views that clashed with one another and could not be pursued in common. If we had a re-flowering of federalism, some of the differences between blue states and red states could be handled discreetly by the states themselves. The most disruptive issues could be denationalized. The problem is, having abandoned so much of traditional federalism, it is hard to see how federalism could be revived at this late juncture.

oh Kesler...this girl is right there with you...

And speaking of this girl, me, G -- I'm done giving you bits and pieces of something you should read in its entirety, all on your own.

oh wait, I like this part --  "Let us pray that we and our countrymen will find a way to reason together and to compromise, allowing us to avoid the worst of these dire scenarios—that we will find, that is, the better angels of our nature."

It's winter in America...and it came early.
brrrrrr  (yup just a totally unrelated link just to keep you on your frozen toes)

With regard to the days ahead....
will it be more      long      cold    civil    war?
Or, will we find a way to reason together?

k, now it's the end.

the end of this day in the life of an American Girl  is here.

And it's ending at the bottom of a deep chasm, suffocating in questions and chaos, with civility and compromise as elusive as the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel that never comes. We may as well throw in a groundhog telling us it will be six more weeks of winter before winter has even officially begun.

Make it a Good Day, G

It's Fall Lines, Defined Lines, Border Lines and Punch Lines Thing

Dear America,

do what I say, not as I do

and how.
these leftists and their antics...

wasn't it just a couple years ago, when the Left screamed bloody murder responding to The Donald, when he would not commit to accepting the election results during a debate?  They were, like, oh my gosh...that's just horrifying.  Quoting The Hil-liar-y now: “Let’s be clear about what he is saying and what that means. He is denigrating — he is talking down our democracy.

that was then, when Hillary saw herself coasting into the Oval Office without so much as a hiccup.  At the time, she felt most certain, that it would be she, not he, who ended up on the right side of the electoral vote tally, in the end --  just like everybody else on the Left who fell in line singing the second verse, same as the first.... I'm with HER!  I'm with HER!

Oh the shock and horror of the results.  Oh the shock and horror of the level of delusion within the ranks; everybody got it wrong; and when I say everybody, this girl is mostly referring to the mainstream media, the pollsters, and how the reality of just so many interpretations of the pulse of the people were so spot OFF.

You know, nearly half of the American people feel one way, veering left (ideologically speaking) --  while miracles upon miracles, making nearly, the entire other half, feeling drawn towards another (ideologically speaking).

So to be clear, at the risk of repeating myself:   half of the country happens to veer in a totally different direction, ideologically, than the other.  [I know; it's weird.]

Nearly half one way; and the other half, another.

Okay?  Are we on the same page yet?

Nearly half of U.S. goes left, while the other half goes right.

Now -- noting "nearly" in equal portion;  but the truth is, many of U.S. happen to fall more in line with the oooey gooey middle.

Of course -- ever since The Donald got elected president, the Left has not only fought the legitimacy of the election results, complicated matters with starting the Russian conspiracy hoax, but have never treated the administration, especially President Trump, himself, with so much as a hint of respect of the office/position of power around the globe. Not even a crumb.

Never mind that election laws are currently being broken left and right; no, scratch that, I mean, left and left; and see also, falling under the heading of leaving no election fraud behind, this.....here ya go.

It's just feels like nonstop nonsense.

It never ends.

And so whatever -- Jim Acosta at CNN gets a judge to restore his press credentials -- big whoopie.  Good luck, Jim, getting called upon ever again.

Can we get back to actually talking policy, in keeping with good governing?
Can we get back to cementing the Rule of Law in areas like immigration, securing border lines and enforcing red lines, protecting not only this nation's sovereignty, but the check books of the American taxpayer?

and oh Macron....typical french punch and pomp...“Nationalism is a betrayal of patriotism,” Macron said [Armistice Day 2018]. “By saying, ‘Our interests first, who cares about the others,’ we erase what a nation holds dearest, what gives it life, what gives it grace and what is essential: its moral values.”  Yeah like if it weren't for caring for the whole world, wonder how WWI would have turned out without the US of A...yeah,you're welcome, France.  And all the while, America held a pretty strong stance on immigration, beholden to our sovereign borders and all. (this links to just a quick set of fun facts)

But seriously?  Is that really what Trump is saying, when speaking of keeping America's best interests first and foremost?  Does it immediately extinguish any and all concern for the rest of the world, when in the position of the safe keeping of the American people, American interests?  Does it?Does nationalism really negate any sense of compassion for others, or is this just heated rhetoric over an open fire to make cheap pate out of Trump's remarks?  say oui

According to the world of Google --
pa·tri·ot·ism
/ˈpātrēəˌtizəm/
noun
the quality of being patriotic; vigorous support for one's country.
"a highly decorated officer of unquestionable integrity and patriotism
--------------------
na·tion·al·ism
/ˈnaSH(ə)nəˌlizəm/Submit
noun
patriotic feeling, principles, or efforts.
synonyms: patriotism, patriotic sentiment, flag-waving, xenophobia, chauvinism, jingoism
"their extreme nationalism was frightening"
an extreme form of this, especially marked by a feeling of superiority over other countries.
plural noun: nationalisms
advocacy of political independence for a particular country
---------------------
Hmmmmm do you think the definition for nationalism has been tweaked in recent years?

I believe this may be a case of defining outside the lines, what say you?

Since when did the word nationalism begin to take on extremism as a natural transition...calling a string of words "synonyms" in one breath -- from "patriotism to patriotic sentiment to flag-waving to xenophobia?...chauvinism?  jingoism?"  To be fair -- and balanced -- given all of the last free "synonyms" show "extreme patriotism" also listed as a proper synonym, one would have to question the selective edit.  If you are going to extremes, then you should at least be consistent, right, Google?

Why did patriotism get a pass?  IF there happens to be such a thing as "extreme patriotism" -- and there is -- then where's the complete definition?  Where's the derogatory translation as so freely characterized in nationalism, almost with glee?  Like, there isn't even a list of synonyms included, as divined by design by Google. what up

Now reaching for an old, ancient really, dictionary....you know, the kind we find in print, with its binding showing its age, and picking up, ever so slightly, a funky, musty smell when flipping its pages.  This one just so happens to be The Winston Dictionary, College Edition; and one of the few things I cherish -- as in, probably taking it with me in case of fire,  for it belonged to "pop," my grandfather, dating back to when he was attending Johns Hopkins University.

He was here, in these pages;  and now catching myself hypnotized in thought, just why "wherewithal" and "sympathy" and "finale" were among a spattering of words with check marks next to them. oh well...moving on....It reads like so:

Nationalism -- 1. patriotic feeling, efforts, or principles; devotion to the interests or glory of one's own country; 2. advocacy of , or demand for, national independence; 3. a policy that demands the carrying on of all industries by the nation; 4. an idiom, trait, or custom peculiar to any nation.

Patriotic -- adj.  characterized, or influenced, by love of country.   adv. patriotically.  n. patriotism.

Please note in the margins:  according to The Winston Dictionary, with its first printing nearly one hundred years ago..."patriotism" didn't even warrant its own definition, but "nationalism" did. what up

I mean, c'mon, just a few words from nationalism we find nativism -- the practice of favoring native born citizens rather than immigrants.  philos. the doctrine of innate ideas, or that the mind may receive impressions from within itself.

Wouldn't this be more a synonym to xenophobia, chauvinism, and jingoism?
Let's Googlit....

na·tiv·ism
/ˈnādəˌvizəm/Submit
noun
1.
the theory or doctrine that concepts, mental capacities, and mental structures are innate rather than acquired or learned.
2.
US
the policy of protecting the interests of native-born or established inhabitants against those of immigrants.
"a deep vein of xenophobia and nativism"

Wow.  There ya go.

And look at that.
Do you see it?

Under 2.
"US"

puleeze people

I guess Australia doesn't have policy protecting the interests of native-born Australians against those of immigrants; I guess Mexico doesn't have policy protecting the interests of native-born Mexicans against those of immigrants

And what say you, France -- what's the latest?

oh, oui --  I see

America isn't alone, and yet because it's Trump leading the home of the brave -- the global-elite and the ragtag team of leftists media, make edits after edits after edits, only to denounce any and all policy coming out of this administration; never mind, that Trump is echoing the ideological differences of nearly half of the entire country, if not half (or quite possibly, the whole) of the entire world.

And it's not just about where we all stand on immigration --

thinking, um, in areas like, um, climate change now.

And no, we don't have time to get into it just now; we've said enough for one day.

So let me leave you reading the most fascinating read from Daily Mail -- Why 536 AD was the worst year to be alive.

The fog...rolled in and never left....

So something other than fossil fueled cars caused climate change?  A natural wonder, like a volcano, is to blame for catastrophic loss of life and the ability to grow food -- without the help of modern man and the industrial age?  Seriously?  Say it isn't so.

what a riot.

face it folks, the entire country disagrees on most everything.
Some might blame it upon the fall lines -- that being, falling directly by party lines; but I would like to think that many of us just think deeply... widely... deliberately... and vigorously.... upon many things day in and day out all on our own and without nefarious influence or outside pressure.

Do unto others
and you would have them do
unto you.

It's an Open Response to a Becoming Michelle O Thing

Dear America,

"Donald Trump,
with his loud and reckless
innuendos,
was putting my family's safety
at risk.
And for this
I'd never forgive him."

and for this, she needs to get her facts straight.

Who started the questioning of the birth certificate, Michelle?

Perhaps not Hillary, herself -- but supporters of the Hillary Clinton campaign circulated an email of innuendo and powerful suggestion and reckless accounts that questioned the legitimacy of Barack Obama's real place of birth.  Trump only picked up the ball and ran with it for a wee bit...because, if you all haven't noticed, he kinda likes to stir the pot every now and again.  It's sport.

But the truth of the matter is -- if it weren't for the bold move of a democratic operative at the time, circa August 2008, a Phil Berg.... the guy who actually filed a lawsuit questioning the multiple citizenships of Barack Obama -- dare I say, Trump would never have known or had the propaganda to question anything.  So blame Phil; blame the supporters of Hillary Clinton and their anonymously circulated letter exposing the controversy; just don't blame Trump. (just wiki Phil and see what you see...)

"I've never been a fan of politics,
and my experience
 over the last ten years
has done little to change that,"
she writes
 according to the Post.
"I continue to be
put off by the nastiness."

indeed, indeed

Remember Bill Clinton -- the other "misogynist," of recent history who made it to the White House? Do you all even remember when he said this....while stumping for his wife...when attempting to woo Ted Kennedy over:  "A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags."  (referring to your husband, Michelle)  yikes.

Talk about a nasty back and forth between you'all...

and for this...I believe, that the four of you have never quite fully recovered, unless it's for show.

So to forgive or to not forgive of things imagined and of things anchored in reality ---  it's all about one's perspective, I guess:

Trump's response to how Michelle, My Bell, can never forgive Trump for putting her family in danger...even though the Clinton campaign clearly choreographed the controversy from it's conception, under the guise of the end will justify the means (Fifty Shades of Alinsky, right)  --
“She got paid a lot of money to write a book, and they always insist that you come up with controversy,” Trump told reporters at the White House before departing for Paris. “Well, I’ll give you a little controversy back. I’ll never forgive [President Obama] for what he did to our United States military by not funding it properly. It was depleted.

indeed, indeed

and for this -- I need to scroll back up to where I placed misogynist in quotes, for just a moment.

I've said this before, and I'll probably say it again-- but throwing around the word misogynist to describe a guy who actually loves women so much, that he assaults them with his loud and reckless, or his soft and southern, innuendo, his hands, his whatever, is a misuse -- in my view -- of the true meaning behind word, the characterization.  Is it a hatred of women, at the root cause of their flamboyance -- the overreach, so to speak -- of a women's private space, and perhaps even her privates?  Is it?

I just don't understand why this word is so freely thrown around like a cheap trick to describe Trump -- but not Bill? But I digress.
Of Trump, she adds her “body buzzed with fury” after hearing the hot-mic tape in which he bragged about grabbing women. “It was an expression of hatred that had generally been kept out of polite company, but still lived in the marrow of our supposedly enlightened society — alive and accepted enough that someone like Donald Trump could afford to be cavalier about it.” She tried to block out his election.

and for this, Michelle, in the book, expands upon her fury and frustrations,  questioning the intelligence of women choosing a misogynist over Hillary -- while totally dismissing the ideological differences that come between us women.

How frightfully ignorant; shameful, really.  It's a wonder how this rather oppressive liberal expectation --  political mandate, really -- to vote according to one's genitalia or the color of our skin, has any street cred left at all these days; the suffragettes of yesteryear must be rolling in their graves...like, we fought for women's voting rights for this?  Shame on you, Michelle, shame on you.

Michelle ...before including the word misogynist to describe President Trump, you may want to look at the facts (again)...Here's a great place to start; and ya' just gotta love the irony....as these facts come courtesy from a place called The Hill, here.

and for this, dare I add, that Trump not only adores women (unless he doesn't like you....teehee), he hires them!  And hires more than any other White House in American history, like, ever!  Unfortunately, for you lefty's, that is just an inconvenient truth.

Thing is, Michelle -- let's look at the latest picture of reality....

Yes, there are  some crazies...
And what about these crazies....
 and then there's this...

yeah, this girl is put off by the kinds of nastiness infringing upon the peace and security of community and family, too.

Can't we all get along?

Not sure, really; this girl isn't seeing much hope.

The nastiness of politics is as old as the nastiness of prostitution, as old as the nastiness of old men, as old as the nastiness of a bitter old woman, as old as the nastiness of humankind, way back when and now. [And just as a point of interest, Newt didn't invent political nastiness, either; perhaps Saul Alinsky, and the movement back behind Rules for Radicals, may deserve that credit; for the modern day display of loud and reckless and nasty political partisanship has only escalated, beginning with the community organizing from the sixties and seventies.]

No matter.
Our capacity to love and hate is all the same, really; as we simply, madly, deeply, all get around in our pursuit of happiness on any given day, it gets down to our individual choices that make manifest our world, large and small.  The outcome of each of our individual choices effects us personally, at home, and when combined, in the collective, as a nation.

We all walk the line of good and evil with every little thing life brings; and naturally, with the way the universe works -- under the law of attraction --  we create the environment, the atmosphere, the culture of our time in LIVE FEED all the live long day; everywhere and everything we put our minds, every intention and every thought and every word and every deed  -- left, right, front and center, high and low -- makes our present moment, for better or worse.  For everything begins with a thought; making thoughts as powerful as the president of the United States.

Hate to break it to you, Michelle and all, but the America we see and experience today -- is not entirely Trump's fault.

Which goes to explain the real fraud happening under our feet, exposing just how powerful the left leaning media truly is -- for it is the mainstream media who dishonestly decides and mischievously aligns with what to say and what to print, not only against this republican, right-wing, Trump Administration, but against the actual good that is going on in America, as a whole, today; thereby, reducing mainstream media to nothing more than a 24/7 propaganda stream.

It must be nice to be Michelle, right about now.  Her BECOMING, becomes her, because the media loves her, Hollywood adores her, and half of the American men and women in this country seem to worship her. [I think she's cute.]  She can say or do no wrong, and is perfect in every way.

And speaking of becoming...you would think our current First Lady, Melania, would gain the same respect, but noooooo; all she gets, is a constant stream of hate. In a word, that is some kind of nastiness.  ugh.

and for this, I can't end the day on this note.

Did you all happen to see the story about the emu and the donkey?

How unlikely are these two to not only co-exist, peacefully, but to fall in love....so sweet!

It almost carries enough power to give the American people a little hope, doesn't it?

live, love, laugh....indeed

Make it a Good Day, G

It's a Day to Do Your Civic Duty Thing

Dear America,

Walk beautifully,
talk beautifully,
live beautifully

stop the drama already

Joe Biden...calling this the most important mid-term election of his life...seriously?

if you really think about it -- it's all relative, you know, Joe.

Those out of power, want in.
Those who disagree the most... with the current administration, want change.

But just the same -- those in power, want to stay in power; those who agree the most...with the current administration, want things to stay the course.

Part of me just wants it over with already.
But naturally, another part of me is excited to see what, in fact, happens.

For it seems like days, weeks, perhaps months, of nothing but nonsense back and forth -- the facts absent.  It would seem, for much of the time, the facts, the substance of the issues, have been ambushed by mob speak and media fanaticism, being inundated with waves of fear mongering and candidates often toning up or toning down the rhetoric -- depending upon the crowd.

But let's also get one thing straight -- we are not a democracy!  We are a republic!  --  albeit, a wee bit messed up republic...there is that.

Stop the drama already...that is my wish for today.

Ooooh  Me thinks that this would be a great day for a rerun of this drama  --

One day,
One day,
maybe one day we will figure it out...

maybe one day we will walk and talk and live and  love beautifully with one another.

Until then -- do your civic duty and VOTE today.

Make it a Good Day, G
