It's a Dishonourable Terrorist Trade for a Traitor Thing

Dear America,

oh wow

let me get this straight...

the president negotiated with terrorists?

All exchange being immediately suspect and alarming -- 

America gains the return of a prisoner of war, Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the only soldier having been taken captive (since 2009)  -- while the terrorists, of the Haqqani Network, gain five Guantanamo Bay detainees:  Mohammad Fazl, Mullah Norullah Noori, Mohammed Nabi, Khairullah Khairkhwa, and Abdul Haq Wasiq.

Oh this is rich...

As noted via Fox News --  "Under the conditions of their release, the detainees will be banned from traveling outside of Qatar for at least one year."  wonderful.

Now, just to be clear, the tally according to the Common Core scorecard:  5 to 1, advantage going to senior Taliban leaders.

And possibly something even more disconcerting just might be summed up by a couple of senior members of congress:

“Like all Americans, we celebrate the release of Sergeant Bergdahl,” California Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe, the ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said in a joint statement. 

“However, we must carefully examine the means by which we secured his freedom. America has maintained a prohibition on negotiating with terrorists for good reason. Trading five senior Taliban leaders from detention in Guantanamo Bay for Bergdahl’s release may have consequences for the rest of our forces and all Americans.

They also argued that Obama “clearly violated laws” that require him to notify Congress 30  days before any transfer of terrorists from Guantanamo Bay and to explain how the threat posed by such terrorists has been substantially mitigated.

[In light of these arrangements -- and selfishly drawing attention now to a more local matter -- maybe the marine being held a prisoner just south of the border in Mexico --  Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi -- might finally gain the Commander-in-Chief's attention to detail...probably managing to get it done, in a perfect world, without calling in Special Forces and with just one phone call...]


But back to the Bergdahl trade, here's a second round, this time from the Washington Post:

"The law requires the defense secretary to notify relevant congressional committees at least 30 days before making any transfers of prisoners, to explain the reason and to provide assurances that those released would not be in a position to reengage in activities that could threaten the United States or its interests."

As if this sleazy arrangement with our enemy could not get any more absurd, or worse, we now go to Pamela Geller -- and might I suggest you all take a deep breath first.
